An Eclectic Space for Local Families

Baywood, Los Osos, CA

2021

We were honored to be brought onto this project at the start for High Street Deli’s second location in the county, this time in our neck of the woods. We started with a concept hand-drawn by Botanica Nova co-owner Nick, whose practice as a visual artist inspired the patio design.

The original High Street Deli in SLO was a great example of the owner’s eclectic style, which inspired us to showcase a variety of materials in the final design. The stone path features five stone varieties: brick, pebble mosaic, exposed aggregate, concrete, and pebble. We also conceived and sourced the VW bus bench seat that Botanica Nova co-owner Brandon customized for the space.

With emphasis on how this would function to serve the community, we designed bar seating around the edge of the property that was built by local metal artist Cody from Formula Factory Fabrication. Honoring the former tenants, Sculptured Egg, we preserved their redwood flooring and repurposed it to build the custom decks and planters. We finished the garden with custom fencing adorned with road sign ephemera collected by the business owner, creating a lively and eclectic space for families to gather and grub.
